CPW Host Registration and Training

Please fill out this form to register as a potential host for CPW. We have integrated the hosting training module directly into the registration form. For this reason, the registration process will take between 10 and 15 minutes. Once you submit the form, you will be unable to modify your responses. COVID Policy and Restrictions
All admitted students must adhere to MIT's current vaccination and COVID policies, and have been strongly recommended to take a COVID test before arriving to campus. Admitted students participating in CPW will be issued a Tim Ticket for general campus access.

Hosts will be notified if they have been selected to host by Wednesday, April 3. This email will include:

Your student's contact information.
The three areas they are most interested in exploring at CPW.
Their potential allergies.
Their travel information. Most will arrive Thursday, April 11th and depart Sunday, April 14th.

You'll be presented with important information about hosting for CPW. Some of these will be followed by questions that must be answered correctly to progress.

This content derives directly from the Mind and Hand Book. Please be familiar with the policies laid out in the handbook prior to CPW.

Contacting your student:

Once you're selected as a host, you'll need to make contact with your admitted student. They'll be eagerly awaiting your call or email! Please review the information below:

Call and/or email your student as soon as you receive their information.
You must contact your student before 9:00 PM, Monday April 8^th.
If no contact has been made by Tuesday, April 9^th we will reassign your student to your back-up host.
Introduce yourself to your student and let them know their sleeping arrangements (i.e .will they have a bed, floor space, do they need to bring a sleeping bag).
Confirm your student’s arrival time and make plans to meet them.
Be sure you both have most up to date contact information for CPW.

Meeting with your Student

Now that you've established contact, your admitted student's arrival is imminent. Below is useful information to help you plan the meeting.

1. Please plan to meet your admitted student 30 minutes after they arrive on campus. This is the time it will take for them to finish CPW Orientation.
2. Please arrange to meet them in or around the Student Center (W20). CPW check-in is located in the Student Center.
3. MIT shuttles will be running all day on Thursday to bring students to campus from Logan Airport. It will take approximately 45 minutes from arrival at Logan to get to campus. Students arriving by ground transportation (bus, train or car) will need to make their own way to campus.
4. If your student is taking ground transportation to campus, please make sure they know how to get to the Student Center.

Substance Policy

As a host, you will be representing the MIT community and being a resource for your admitted student. As such, you must adhere to CPW’s substance policy and agree to being a responsible host.

All events at CPW are substance-free

Hosts and admitted students are expected to abstain from alcohol, drugs and other prohibited substances for the entirety of CPW.
You are expected to provide a substance-free environment for your admitted student.
Providing illegal substances to your admitted student is a particularly serious violation of MIT policy and will result in disciplinary action.

Being a responsible host

As a host you are obligated to behave in a safe and responsible manner.
Admitted students (often underage) are visitors to our campus. For many, this is the first time away from home and on a college campus. We have a responsibility to keep them safe.
Review the general conduct standards covered on the Protection of Minors website.
Violators of CPW’s substance-free policy or any policies laid-out in MIT’s Mind and Hand Book will be subject to disciplinary action. This relates to both current and admitted students.
Such disciplinary action could include rescinding your admitted student’s offer of admission to MIT.
No inappropriate use of audio, video or photographic devices or accessing or displaying inappropriate materials or content;
Prompt reporting of incidents of injury, illness of unacceptable behavior; and
Remaining with your student for the duration of each overnight stay.

Safety and Emergency Awareness

CPW is mostly fun and games, but there are some precautions we ask you to take in the unlikely event of an emergency situation.

Go over safety procedures with your admitted student, make sure to point out evacuation signs in your residence, and let your student know how to leave the building in the event of an emergency.
Have your student program their phone with the MIT Police Number: 617-253-1212.
If your student gets locked out after hours, have them call Night Watch at 617-253-1500.
Make sure your student doesn’t accidentally enter restricted spaces or labs without permission; many labs contain hazardous materials.
Give your student your full name, residence, room number, and phone number in case they need to reach you.
Point out Blue Light Phones on campus.
